Mr. McGregor's Fence® is a unique fence system designed to be used around vegetable gardens. It combines a low barrier fence with an electric fence so that any critter that touches it gets zapped with a mild electric current that sends it scurrying away. The system keeps out deer, rabbits, raccoons, groundhogs, woodchucks, possums and skunks. It will also keep out squirrels with an optional squirrel barrier.
Mr. McGregor’s Fence was designed by a gardener who found himself losing the fruits of his labor to the assorted wildlife in his backyard. Unable to find any practical or affordable fence solutions for home gardens, he invented his own and named it for the gentleman gardener in Beatrix Potter’s “The Tale of Peter Rabbit” whose frustration immortalized the problem faced by millions of vegetable gardeners who see their crops damaged or destroyed by rabbits, woodchucks, raccoons, deer and other critters.
The first prototype was developed in the late 1980s and refined over several growing seasons. When the inventor's friends saw how well his creation worked, they wanted fence systems of their own. To make it available to them and others he created Mr. McGregor's Fence® in 1997.
